Times: 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. daily
Class Size: Maximum twelve
Registration Prerequisites
This Linux Systems Administration course is
designed for computer professionals who have
previously attended an introductory Linux
Essentials course, or have equivalent on-the-job
training with practical experience in Linux
command line basics.
To be successful in completing this course,
attendees should have basic knowledge of a Linux
command line editor such as vi, and possess a
repertoire of essential commands for copying,
moving, renaming, and editing files and
directories. Basic knowledge of commands such as
find, and grep, as well as informational
commands including who, date, df, and du are
desirable.
Previous Linux system administration
experience is not required. However, LSA305
learning objectives are highly beneficial to
those who have who have been ‘acting
administrators’ with no formal training.
Students who currently administer Linux systems
by notes or written command lists given to them, will
come away understanding the underlying
functionality and extensibility of familiar and
new commands.
Course Description
Students who use and will support Linux
distributions such as Red Hat (RHEL), CentOS,
and Fedora will feel at home, as this course was
developed on these distributions. Those using
other Linux versions based on the above
distributions will benefit greatly. Instructors
point out differences, as appropriate.
Technical terminology unique to the Linux
computing environment is defined, thereby
enabling students to better understand the
nomenclature and more effectively communicate
with other Linux professionals and support
personnel. Instructors are skilled in relating
and leveraging the student's existing knowledge
of administering other operating system
environments.
The skills learned in this course are vital
for competent system administration and provide
a solid foundation for preparing for available
industry certifications.
The Student Learning Guide is designed to be
an excellent post class reference. Frequent
updates to the courseware insure currency,
accuracy and relevancy to current Linux
computing trends.
